I’ve been really digging rope braids lately. They are super pretty and easy to create with a little practice. If you are new to rope braids, start by learning a simple two-strand rope braid. The video and tutorial are found here.

Take the style a step further by incorporating hair as you work like you would do for a classic 3-strand French braid. Use this technique to create a single French rope braid or part your hair down the center for two braids. Leave the ends down or spiral them around to form a bun (or two buns) for an easy updo. Rope braids also make beautiful bands and crowns. For this demo, I’ve created a band across the top of my head and wrapped the end around a low side ponytail.

Watch the video for step-by-step instructions. Get creative with your rope braids and don’t forget to send a picture to me at sonya (at) parlordiary.com if you give this tutorial a try!
