Sometimes bigger is better. I offer this ponytail as evidence. Adding some serious volume elevates a simple style to one that's a bit sexier than your everyday heading-to-the-gym pony. It's still casual but the big 'n messy retro quality adds a bit of sass and intention, if you know what I mean. It's a ponytail, sure, but one that took a some amount of styling. And, IMHO, that tiny bit of effort can really bump your confidence level.

Don't worry; the "effort" to create this look is nominal. It should only take a couple minutes, definitely under five. Quick and easy with lots of impact... that's how I like it.

For this look, you will need:

Clips for sectioning (optional, but handy)
Two small hair bands
Topsy tail tool (optional; I used my own DIY version)
Texturizing product (I used Aquage Transforming Paste)
Teasing brush or comb

1. Create three roughly even horizontal sections and clip them to keep them separated.

2. Tie the top two sections into a ponytail. Release the bottom section at your nape.

3. Use your topsy tail tool to pull the middle ponytail through the one on top. Alternately, you can use your fingers to create a small hole between your scalp and the band of the top ponytail and pull the center ponytail up through the hole. Pull the top ponytail tight.

4. Scrunch in a decent amount of texturizing product and tease all three sections to create extra volume.

Done! Looks like I have twice as much hair, right?
