Back to School: Haircare Products and StylesHard to believe that it's already time to start thinking about the kids heading back to school (if they haven't started already.) Here in Chicago, we are lucky that school doesn't commence until after Labor Day. While I plan on soaking up these last days of summer with my little man, I've started to think about his first day of school.

I've got lots of quick and easy hairstyling ideas for you at the end of this post. First, I'll share my favorite products and tools to help make styling a breeze and keep your child's hair healthy and protected. These are all products I own and use on my son and on my smaller clientele so I can personally vouch for their efficacy and overall awesomeness.

Back to School Haircare for Kids1. So Cozy Behave Styling Gel $11.95
This styling gel is fantastic! It adds a ton of control and tames frizz and flyaways with zero crunch or flaking. While typical gels often look wet and shiny, this product dries with a soft, pretty finish. The kid-friendly formula contains soy protein and fruit acids for healthy hair and scalp and contains no questionable ingredients like sulfates, shthalates, or parabens. Also the pineapple and citrus "Trop-o-lish" scent is amazing.

2. Fairy Tales Curly-Q Shampoo $12.95
My son has very thick, wavy hair so I was delighted to find this moisturizing kid's shampoo. Jojoba, vitamin E, chamomile and geranium keep his hair soft and manageable and I appreciate that this shampoo is paraben-free and bio-degradable. Got to keep the planet he will inherit as healthy as his hair!

3. Hot Tot Structure Whip $19.50
This lightweight cream offers texture and control without shine. The formula includes sweet almond oil, shea butter and aloe vera gel along with Hot Tot's delicious signature scent described as a combination of "marshmallows and baby powder."

4. The Wet Brush $8.99
Really, a great detangling brush is the key to fuss-free mornings! The wet brush detangles hair wet or dry gently with a padded base and snag-free bristles. It comes in a ton of super fun colors and a "Shine" version that incorporates boar bristles is also available.

5. Knot Genie $10.97
Knot Genie brushes are another great detangling option. They are unique in their cloud-shaped base, designed to fit into the palm of your hand and feel like an extension of your arm. The configuration of the flexible bristles are the key to it's gentle knot-fighting power.

6. So Cozy Boo! Lice Prevention Spray $14.50
If you have elementary school-aged kids, you know that lice is a pretty big problem. This light, pleasant-smelling spray helps ward off the little parasites, naturally, with tea tree oil and rosemary extract. The formula also includes keratin for stronger locks as well as peppermint oil, lavender, and aloe for healthy hair and scalp.

Now you've got some tools to work with, let's move on the the styles!

Little men can get in on the well-groomed trend, too! For this style, I simply spritzed in a little water with my spray bottle, added a healthy glob of So Cozy Behave Styling Gel, and combed it into place. I emphasized his wave in front and made the sides nice and sleek.

Easy Ballerina Bun

What little girl doesn't want to look like a tiny dancer? I had Ava flip her head upside down and used a detangling brush and So Cozy Behave Styling Gel to smooth it into a high ponytail. I twisted the ponytail, wrapped it around to form a top knot, and secured it with a hair elastic.
